Scott Wilson Vanerstrom

Alexa Demie dad Scott Wilson Vanerstrom was born as the son of Carole Freedman and her former partner John Robert Vanerstrom.

Carole was only 15 years old and already a mother when she first met Wilson at a Sunset Boulevard club. She eventually married the musician on July 29, 1965; the marriage ended after two years in 1967.

During his relationship with Carole, Dennis adopted Scott as his son but didn’t complete the legal process.

As Vanerstrom was never lawfully recognized as the son of Wilson, he didn’t receive anything from Dennis’ estate after his death in 1983. Scott also has a half-sister named Jennifer, the only child born of Dennis and Carole’s marriage.

Karen Lesley Powell, the co-author of Scott’s autobiographical book Son Of A Beach Boy: My Dad Dennis Wilson, opened up about the relationship between the foster father-son duo during an interview for the blog Pray For Surf.

According to the author, Dennis took a liking to Scott after their first meeting and often spent time with him. The musician also regularly took his young pal on fishing trips and live concerts.

The drummer considered Alexa’s father as his own son. In fact, the duo was so close that Scott didn’t realize Wilson wasn’t his real dad for years.

Wilson and Carole’s divorce in 1967 left a young Scott devastated. After the split, the Beach Boys co-founder got married to three more women: Barbara Charren, Karen Lamm, and Shawn Marie Love.

Similarly, Carole has been married to movie director Jeffrey Bloom for more than three decades.
